CLIMATE INTENSIFIES EL NIÑO: Scientists Warn Historic Storm Season Ahead...

Coral samples from the Galapagos Islands show El Niño intensity has jumped 36.5% over the past four decades, according to a new study analyzing calcium, strontium, and oxygen signatures trapped in coral skeletons going back roughly a thousand years. The finding aligns with climate models suggesting greenhouse gases are amplifying these ocean warming events, though scientists still debate how much of today's intensification stems directly from human-caused climate change versus natural cycles. This year's developing El Niño could be the strongest on record and is six times more likely to reach that magnitude because of warming temperatures, researchers say.
