PAKISTAN ATTACKED: Suicide Bombing Kills 12 in Dera Ismail Khan...

A suicide bombing at a police checkpoint in Dera Ismail Khan, a district in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, killed at least 12 people and wounded 30 on September 26. Most casualties were security personnel and police officers, though two civilians were also among the injured. Though no group claimed immediate responsibility, suspicion points to the Pakistan Taliban, which has intensified attacks across the region in recent years. The bombing marks the latest flare-up in escalating cross-border tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, following Pakistani military strikes on Afghan soil earlier this week.
