Pat McAfee Warned of Death Threats, Wore Bulletproof Vest at Utah College Game Day
ConsequenceOctober 28, 2026
Pat McAfee's weekend visit to Salt Lake City for ESPN's College GameDay turned hostile after the University of Utah posted a student-made video mocking his on-air personality just hours before he was set to promote the program nationally. The 39-year-old broadcaster, who regularly receives death threats according to reporting by Front Office Sports, referenced Charlie Kirk's September 2025 assassination while discussing his discomfort with the university's decision to amplify criticism of him. An FBI source reportedly advised McAfee to wear a bulletproof vest following Kirk's killing. The university has since removed the video and apologized, but McAfee told his audience he hopes never to return.
