A British court has increased prison sentences for Klevi and Nivalda Pirjani after prosecutors challenged their original terms as too lenient. The couple killed their 13-week-old son Miguel in November 2024 through fatal head injuries; an investigation later revealed he had suffered 41 bone fractures across at least four separate abuse incidents. Klevi's sentence rose from 19 to 21 and a half years; Nivalda's from 15 to 17 and a half years. The Court of Appeal found the original judge had underestimated aggravating factors, including what it called the "routine" and escalating nature of the assaults and the pair's mutual encouragement of the violence against their defenseless child.
