Stanislav Carpiuc, a 28-year-old Romanian national, has been deported after serving part of a two-year sentence for arson attacks on property linked to Prime Minister Keir Starmer in May 2025. The attacks—which burned Starmer's former car, two residential properties, and damaged his rented home while his sister-in-law and her family were inside—were orchestrated by a Russian handler operating under the alias EL, who recruited accomplice Roman Lavrynovych through promises of payment and Russian citizenship. The BBC investigation revealed the fires were part of a broader Russian state-directed campaign, with EL identified as a young Russian diplomat directing operations from abroad.
