Yorkshire Water Boss Resigns After Firm Downgraded; Steps Down in January...
BBC NewsOctober 30, 2026
Yorkshire Water's chief executive Nicola Shaw is stepping down effective January 1st, a day after the Environment Agency assigned the water company its lowest possible environmental rating. Shaw, who earned £1.9 million in undisclosed payments from the company's parent between 2023 and 2026, departs as Yorkshire Water recorded 260 pollution incidents in 2025—the highest since 2011. She'll be replaced by Nicola Medalova, an environmental health officer from National Grid, as the company faces mounting pressure over sewage leaks, deteriorating water quality, and customer frustration with rising bills.
