KYIV UNDER FIRE: Russia Launches Barrage on Academy of Sciences, Flames Engulf Historic Building...

Russia deployed high-speed jet drones to strike Kyiv's National Academy of Sciences on Monday, killing at least two people and setting the historic building ablaze. The attack marked an escalation in Russia's tactics—of 120 drones fired across Ukraine that day, 90 were jet-powered rather than the slower propeller-driven models Ukraine's defenses had previously focused on countering. Ukrainian officials report a 57 percent interception rate for these faster aircraft, leaving air defense gaps that Russia is actively exploiting to hit civilian infrastructure, medical facilities, and scientific institutions during daytime hours.
