Jermaine Pennant, the 43-year-old former Liverpool and Stoke City winger who made 231 Premier League appearances, required more than 50 stitches after a German Shepherd attacked him while he was walking his dogs in north London last week. The dog clamped onto his right leg with four bite wounds and refused to release, but Pennant's own dog, King, intervened to drive off the attacker and likely prevented far worse injury.
